Hello World!

The purpose of this post is to define the mission and vision of Radiata Consulting, and describe the approach that I plan to bring to the rather crowded space of technology consulting today. The approach is encoded within the (mathematically incorrect!) slogan: Research × AI × Data = Radiata

Everything begins with a strong commitment to research. As external contractors in the field of Data and AI, it would be presumptuous to assume we possess ready-made solutions for the complex business or data challenges our clients face. Often, the solution is unknown and we must study the problem, understand the potential solutions and present the one most likely to deliver the right outcomes. Often, the solution needs to be tested and refined as it is being implemented. The Research in the equation refers to the rigorous, systematic approach to solving complex problems that we see in scientific research.

In tune with the zeitgeist, the equation indeed includes AI, but not in the way you might assume! Here, AI stands for 'actionable insights.' The essence of driving business value lies in acting upon reliable insights, which are derived from meticulously collected and curated Data. Our focus is on the data, the insights extracted, the actions taken based on these insights, and the rigorous measurement of their impact. Technology serves merely as a tool to achieve these ends.

In essence, Radiata's mission is to harness scientific rigour in crafting solutions that start with the development of curated and contextualized datasets. We then uncover actionable insights through detailed analysis of these datasets, then assessing the impact of actions taken based on these insights. This cyclical process ensures continuous improvement and value creation for clients.

In the next few months, I'll focus on using my skills in Databricks, AWS, and MLOps to help my first client. At the same time, I plan to meet and learn from as many people as possible to understand the problems businesses have in getting real value from their data and analytics work. For now, I'm working by myself, but I'm looking to grow the team smartly when the right opportunities present themselves.
